Introduction to Restylane®
The world’s most popular and most studied cosmetic dermal fillers, Restylane® and its new companion Restylane Lyft® offer exceptional treatments for moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, especially the nasolabial folds that stretch from the nose to the corners of the mouth. Restylane® and Restylane Lyft® replenish lost volume in the skin and restore youthful contours to the face by lifting and supporting tissues non-surgically. The outcome is a younger, smoother look with fewer lines and wrinkles. Results are immediate and long-lasting.

What are Restylane® and Restylane Lyft® made of?
Restylane® and Restylane Lyft® are clear, synthetic gels made with purified hyaluronic acid, a natural sugar that is found throughout your body. Hyaluronic acid works with collagen to support the skin and keep it smooth and supple. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane® and Restylane Lyft® has been modified so it lasts longer. It forms strong bonds with water molecules in the skin, prolonging its rejuvenating effects for up to six months or more. Restylane® and Restylane Lyft® contain no animal products, unlike many of the substances that are found in other injectable cosmetic fillers, so no skin tests are necessary.t® are right for you.
What is the difference between Restylane® and Restylane Lyft®?
The gel particles in Restylane Lyft® are larger than those in Restylane®, making Restylane Lyft® ideal for treating deeper folds in the skin.
What are Restylane®-L and Restylane Lyft®-L?
Recently approved by the FDA, Restylane®-L and Restylane Lyft®-L take these fillers to the next level by adding lidocaine, a local anesthetic used to reduce the sting of the injection for a more comfortable experience with the same results. Dr. Balle is proud to offer these exciting new products at his Grosse Pointe practice.
How soon will I see results and how long will they last?
You will see results almost instantly. In general, the effects of Restylane® treatments last six months, and the effects of Restylane Lyft® treatments last at least that long. Results vary by individual and depend on many factors, such as the patient’s life, age, structure of the skin, the degree of perfection demanded and the practitioner’s injection technique. Touch-up and follow-up treatments will make the improvements of Restylane® and Restylane Lyft® last longer. Most patients choose to have a touch-up treatment within six months to a year of the original injection(s).
What are the side effects and follow up treatment?
Restylane® and Restylane Lyft® are very safe products. The most common side effects of treatment are swelling, redness, pain, bruising and tenderness in and around the injection areas. These typically fade within a week. During the first 48 hours after your treatment, do not massage or rub the treated area. Do not expose the treated area to intense heat or cold for the first few days after the treatment to avoid swelling. Once Restylane® and Restylane Lyft® have integrated into the body, they will adjust to your normal body temperature. About Restylane® Silk
For Silky, Smooth Natural-looking Lips
Restylane® Silk is the newest filler on the block, having been recently approved for release in the U.S. It is the first and only FDA-approved treatment to provide subtle lip enhancement and target the smoothing of wrinkles and lines around the mouth in patients over 21 years of age. Now you can have lips with curves in all the right places and still look like you.
How Does Restylane® Silk Work?
As a member of the Restylane® family, Restylane® Silk is also a clear gel made of hyaluronic acid, a sugar which occurs naturally in your skin. It is not extracted from animals and there is no risk of allergic reaction, so no pre-testing is required. This unique ingredient also dissolves naturally with time and is integrated into your body’s tissues. The effects can last for months.
How is Restylane® Silk Different from Other Restylane® Products?
Restylane® Silk is made of smaller, smoother particles than others in the Restylane® family. While aging causes the lips to show signs of thinning, loss of shape and vertical lines above the lip, Restylane® Silk is perfectly suited to provide volume and very natural-looking results in the delicate lip areas.
What kind of results should I expect to see?
Dr. Balle will meet with you personally to assess your goals and determine your eligibility. He is a highly experienced expert at injecting Restylane® Silk’s unique gel formula with an ultrafine needle designed for improved accuracy, giving the most soft and precise outcome. In general, you can expect fast-acting, long-lasting results. Nearly all patients report visible improvement in lip fullness within 14 days after injection and more than 75% of those patients still report lip improvement six months afterward. However, the exact length of time will depend on the amount injected and the areas injected. Only one treatment is required for most folds and wrinkles and lasts almost twice as long as regular collagen injections. The Restylane® Silk treatment can be replenished whenever you feel the need. The most common side effect is temporary swelling, as with any other hyaluronic acid gel injection into the lips. Contact Grosse Pointe Dermatology in Southeast Michigan to see if Restylane® Silk Treatment is right for you.
