Volume loss directly under the eye is the most common reason for under-eye hollows. The volume loss under the eye and in the upper portion of the cheek, accentuate the “bags”. The “bags” then get the most light reflection which then gives the appearance of looking older.
Eyelid ptosis is loose skin; this is a result of aging and exposure to sun. Your eyes look smaller when the skin above and under the eye is loose and wrinkled. With volume loss or skin laxity you end up looking tired no matter how well rested or healthy you are.
