Should I Consider Radiesse®?Many dermal fillers are available today to fill unwanted facial lines and correct the appearance of wrinkles. With so many dermal fillers available today, it can often be difficult to choose one that’s right for you! Many patients, however, are now choosing Radiesse®.

Let’s take a closer at the top questions patients have about Radiesse®:

  1. What exactly is Radiesse®? Radiesse® is an FDA-approved injectable filler that works to reduce the appearance of moderate or severe wrinkles, usually around the nose or mouth. It is injected into the targeted area of skin, with a fine needle, to add volume and give the patient a fuller, more youthful look.
  2. What sets Radiesse® apart from other fillers? What sets Radiesse® apart from other fillers is that it is composed of calcium-based microspheres in a water-based gel, which helps stimulate the skin’s natural growth of collagen. This natural process will help restore more youthful, refreshed look to skin, and restore the skin’s elasticity. Another benefit of this filler is that allergy testing is also not required prior to an injection.
  3. Where can Radiesse® be injected? Radiesse® can be used in various areas of the face or body. It is often used on smile lines, chin wrinkles, lines from the nose to mouth, and wrinkles around the nose.
  4. Will treatment be painful? Most patients report little pain when it comes to Radiesse®. The filler can be mixed with the anesthetic lidocaine for injection, which will make treatment more comfortable for the patient. Results are typically noticeable immediately, and treatment will be complete in under an hour. Potential side-effects may include itching, swelling, or itching, though they will typically be mild.
  5. How long will these treatments last? These injections require far less maintenance than other dermal fillers. For some patients, the results of these injections may last for up to a year, and sometimes even longer! Some doctors may also recommend a follow-up treatment, so that patients will be able to maintain results longer.
