Each year, millions of adults look to eliminate the appearance of facial wrinkles. While there are many treatments available to alleviate the appearance of wrinkles, one that is growing in demand among patients is Sculptra® Aesthetic.
Let’s take a closer look at some of the most important questions about this treatment.
- What is Sculptra® Aesthetic? Often known as a “liquid facelift,” Sculptra Aesthetic is injected into a targeted area with a fine needle. It works gradually to restore a more youthful appearance to a patient’s face. It is frequently used to correct the appearance of hollow eyes, facial folds, and wrinkles. Two to three treatments are usually recommended for ideal cosmetic results.
- What makes Sculptra® Aesthetic different? Sculptra Aesthetic is FDA-approved, and composed of a safe, synthetic material called Poly-L-lactic acid. It is injected deep into the tissue beneath skin to stimulate the natural growth of collagen within the skin. This will cause skin to become stronger and fuller, making the patient look younger, and rejuvenated. Patients love that this filler helps stimulate the natural growth of collagen, and gives them very natural, subtle results. Additionally,it can last for up to 2 years, far longer than other fillers!
- Are there any side-effects from this injectible? Following the injection, patients may see some redness, swelling, or bruising although any side-effects are mild, and usually temporary. Patients can usually relieve their symptoms by holding an ice pack against the impacted area.
- Is Sculptra® Aesthetic for me? Sculptra Aesthetic is not recommended for patients have previously had allergic reactions to dermal fillers. Patients with serious skin conditions or infections are also not good candidates for this treatment. Since Sculptra Aesthetic cannot be injected into the lips, patients who are looking to augment their lips should consider another treatment option. This is best for healthy adults who are looking to make improvements to the appearance of their skin.
